Triathlon wins Archie with game-changing new battery technology

October 26, 2022

Longer run-times, longer cycle-life and shorter recharge times secure top award.

International battery specialists Triathlon Battery Solutions emerged victorious at the recent UKMHA Awards for Excellence, claiming the prestigious Archie for Innovation Ancillary Product.

The jury was impressed by their enhanced lead acid technology. This innovation combines the affordability of conventional lead acid batteries with the convenience and continuous availability of rapid opportunity charging, typically associated with lithium-ion batteries.

“This technology achieves up to 25% greater run-time than traditional lead acid batteries and cuts recharge times by 50%,” explains Tom Burgess, Managing Director of Triathlon Battery Solutions UK. “This significantly reduces running costs and capital investment in spare batteries and chargers. In practical terms, those longer run times can translate into an additional shift.”

Revolutionary Technology Delivers Game-Changing Results

The secret lies in revolutionary technology that delivers faster charging, wider thermal operating ranges, and higher charge acceptance for opportunity charging. Uniquely, this technology actually cools during charge and operation, preventing the heat build-up that destroys conventional batteries.

“This technology makes it the ideal choice for the switch from diesel to electric,” says Tom. “It can operate in clean indoor environments as well as on extended outdoor shifts, even in extreme temperatures.”

The technology delivers high performance in extreme temperatures and provides up to 50% longer run times at cold temperatures compared to a standard lead acid battery. Additionally, it delivers far higher output while occupying the same footprint as a standard lead acid battery, eliminating power collapse on ramps, in harsh environments, and during heavy-duty cycles.

As a result, this technology is particularly suited for demanding applications like ground support, Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) operations, cold storage, multi-shift operations, and manufacturing.

“Winning the Archie is a tremendous honor,” says Tom. “The competition is always fierce, especially in the Innovation category. The jury is made up of experienced individuals with a wealth of industry knowledge. They truly understand the landscape.”

“With this technology, customers benefit from unrivalled performance combined with exceptionally low whole-life operating costs compared to all other fuel and energy sources.”
