Seamless Implementation of 11 SAP S/4HANA Modules with Zero Operational Disruption

Sunlight Group, a member of Olympia Group and a technology company has reached a major milestone in its transformation into a fully integrated, global, and digital-first organization. The company has successfully implemented 11 SAP S/4HANA modules simultaneously, achieving this feat with zero disruption to its three Greek factories, enabling functions, and the entire Greek operation. Core activities such as production, shipping, and invoicing continued seamlessly, showcasing Sunlight’s unparalleled operational efficiency and strengthening its competitive advantage. This accomplishment marks a global first in terms of the complexity and scale of such an implementation and business process optimization. The transition from SAP R3 to SAP S/4 ΗΑΝΑ further solidifies Sunlight Group’s position as a highly efficient, data-driven powerhouse. It also underscores the expertise of Sunlight’s Business and Digital & IT Team, whose flawless execution of this complex transition demonstrates their remarkable precision and commitment to excellence.

Strengthened by strategic acquisitions over the past two years, Sunlight has expanded its capabilities and market position, driving a transformation focused on streamlining operations and maximizing synergies. At the heart of this transformation is the implementation of SAP S/4HANA, a cloud-based ERP platform that enables sustainable growth and operational excellence. This strategic initiative supports Sunlight’s expanded portfolio and vision of a unified, technology-enabled organization. Sunlight’s digitalization strategy is centred around next-generation digital factories, cutting-edge business intelligence, and robust data governance frameworks. To support this transformation, the company has enhanced its global Business and Digital & IT Team, including the establishment of a new IT hub in Germany. By leveraging advanced technologies, Sunlight is improving customer experiences, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring strong cybersecurity, further accelerating its digital journey.

The implementation of SAP S/4HANA has commenced with Sunlight Group’s Greek operations and is being rolled out in phases across its global network and be completed by 2026. This cutting-edge system architecture provides real-time insights, enhances collaboration across core business functions, and significantly improves decision-making processes. The integration of predictive tools and data analytics is expected to boost operational efficiency by up to 30% in product lifecycle management and 40% in production efficiency in combination with additional tools which are currently being implemented. These innovations not only align with Sunlight Group’s sustainability goals but also strengthen its competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving industry. The success of this transformation is attributed to the commitment, expertise, and focus of Sunlight's team, comprising of Digital & IT, Production, Logistics and Finance. The consultants involved in the implementation of the project were Deloitte Business Solutions, Real Consulting and StepOne. The performance and collaboration, of all internal and external parties has been instrumental in achieving this remarkable result.

Sunlight CEO Lampros Bisalas emphasized the transformative nature of this initiative and its importance “Our digital transformation is redefining how we operate, unlocking the potential of recent acquisitions and enabling the Group to compete in a rapidly evolving industry. It enhances efficiency, drives innovation, and positions Sunlight as a leader in secure, data-driven solutions, enabling operational excellence, robust cybersecurity, and sustainable growth. On the 7th of January, our Greek operations, including Xanthi megaplant, Recycling in Komotini, Technosystems in Kilkis, and HQ functions, successfully went live with SAP S/4HANA. This achievement is a testament to the exceptional work of our team, whose dedication and expertise ensured the seamless integration. This success highlights our commitment to operational excellence and enables our Group to build a solid system, including other systems, which will allow our digital products and services to scale in the future”.
