Geared Towards Growth: Sunlight Group opens up a new subsidiary in Spain

Athens, 13 June 2024

Sunlight Spain, a subsidiary of Sunlight Group, is further solidifying its position in the Iberian Peninsula. This strategic move not only strengthens Sunlight Group's foothold but also exemplifies its commitment to expansion through mergers and acquisitions in neighboring countries. Such endeavors contribute to boosting Europe's energy sector, fostering innovation and sustainable growth in the Iberian Peninsula.

The Spanish battery market, one of the biggest in Europe, represents a strategic priority for Sunlight Group. Drawing on industry experience and the expertise of its team, Sunlight Spain aims to revolutionize the market landscape by offering innovative solutions and unparalleled value to customers. In June 2023, Sunlight Spain took a significant step forward by forging a pivotal partnership, acquiring 65% ownership of Logbatind in Portugal. Concurrently, Logbatind's shareholders acquired a substantial 35% ownership stake in Sunlight Spain. This collaborative effort strengthens Sunlight Group's presence in the Iberian Peninsula, which along with our local long-time partners and distributors, will enhance its capacity to address the evolving needs of customers across the region, while unlocking opportunities for operational efficiency between Portugal and Spain.

Spain is emerging as one of Europe's most promising markets for energy storage and battery solutions. The Spanish government has implemented several clean energy policies to invigorate the local market and accelerate its energy transition, with energy storage and batteries playing a crucial role. Sunlight Spain aims to capture a leading position of the Spanish market within three years, leveraging its diverse product range and direct customer engagement strategies. With plans to also expand into Latin America, Sunlight Spain is positioning itself as a key player in the broader regional battery industry while keep partnering with its long-time distributors in the region. Supported by its establishment in a brand-new, cutting-edge warehouse in Madrid, near major transportation hubs, the company underscores its commitment to seamless logistics and superior customer service.

Martin Hartmann, Chief Commercial Officer Mobility for Sunlight Group stated: “I am pleased that we will have our own location in one of Europe's key markets of the future. This will enable us to offer our customers significantly enhanced support in all areas and ensure reliable and flexible delivery. We will also substantially expand our range of products and services with innovative lithium-ion battery systems and "Energy as a Service" solutions.”

With a shared vision of driving innovation and delivering sustainable growth, Sunlight Group remains committed to fostering strategic partnerships and delivering exceptional value to customers across Europe and beyond.
